If you’re looking for a luxurious weekend full of wine, relaxation, and incredible food, no need to look any further than Rancho Murieta Inn and Spa. My fiancé, Matt, and I had the chance to escape to this resort (about 20 minutes outside Sacramento) for a weekend getaway and we didn’t want to return home at the end of our trip. Here are some of the activities and highlights from the weekend.
Arrived Rancho Murieta is located near an equestrian center, so you will be greeted by stables full of horses (yes, please!).
Night Cap: We arrived late but were able to grab a cheese plate, open a bottle of wine, and relax on our patio overlooking the pool.
Wine Tasting Day Trip! Explored the wonderful wines of Amador County. We were picked up at the hotel by Justin from AmadorUncorked, who was our friendly tour guide for the day. Amador county is mostly known for their award winning Zinfandels and Barberas. There are more than 40 wineries in this county, so we could have spent at least a week just doing wine tours alone. We visited Rancho Victoria, Yorba, and Vino Noceto (where we ordered wine slushies to go. You heard me. Wine Slushies.)
Poolside. After a day of drinking wine, nothing sounded better than lounging next to the pool with a glass of wine
Dinner and games: We definitely built up an appetite and couldn’t wait to eat at the hotel restaurant called The Gate. The scallops and crab dip were melt-in-your-mouth good. We also threw in a few games of Bags (AKA cornhole) and we won’t mention who lost… both games.
Spa time! We took relaxation to the next level in the hotel Spa with a Swedish couples massage. No better way to end a weekend than by releasing some stress
At the end of our trip, our only regret was not staying longer. We will definitely come back to further explore Amador wine country and check out the Golf courses (Matt’s favorite)!
