Wine of the Week: Zinfandel and Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Sandwiches paired with Zinfandel

Its beginning to feel a lot like Summer and I’m craving some BBQ.

These slow cooker pulled pork sandwiches are a perfect, smoky meal or appetizer if you’re craving BBQ and not feeling like firing up the grill for summer season. The smoky flavor of the BBQ pairs amazingly with this savory, structured Old Vine Zinfandel from Eleven Eleven Wines.

Wine of the Week: Eleven Eleven Old Vine Zinfandel

This Old Vine Zinfandel tastes of blackberries, bright red fruit, white pepper, and fresh herbs. The combination of rich fruit and savory flavor makes it a perfect match for BBQ, especially this pulled pork BBQ appetizer/meal.

Eleven Eleven winery is located in Napa and was founded in 2012. The name “eleven eleven” represents the “meant-to-be moments in life that are worth celebrating”. Next time its 11:11, don’t forget to make a wish (or open a bottle of Eleven Eleven Zinfandel).

Pulled Pork Sandwhiches:

These pulled pork sandwiches are a great slow cooker recipe that work well as an appetizer or the main dish.

  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/4 ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (recommend to use plain/mild flavor)
  • 1 pork loin roast (2 lbs/ boneless)
  • coleslaw (for topping)
  • whole grain hamburger buns
Mix together salt, paprika, cinnamon, garlic powder, and brown sugar. Coat pork loin with spice mix and place in slow cooker. Pour in water. Cook roast on high for about 5 hours. Once meat is cooked, add in BBQ sauce and shred pork with fork. Place shredded pork on hamburger buns and top with coleslaw.
