Don’t Show Up Unprepared! Here Are All the Essentials for Your Next Picnic
in partnership with Coravin Wine Preservation System
There’s no better Summer and Fall activity than a picnic. I mean, what could be better than wine, food, and friends in a beautiful outdoor setting? Here are some of my picnic essentials for making sure you don’t show up unprepared for your next outdoor get together with your friends.
Wine, wine, wine
Of course the first thing I think of when packing for a picnic is bringing along a couple bottles of wine. Since everyone has different preferences, its always good to bring a couple options. We had a Robert Hall Viognier, Dutcher Crossing Sauvignon Blanc, and Macrostie Pinot Noir to pair with our meats, cheeses, vegetables, and fruit.
Coravin Wine Preservation System
Do you ever wish you could pour just one glass of wine without pulling the cork? If you’re anything like me, the Coravin wine preservation system may be your new favorite wine gadget. I’m using the brand-new Model Two Elite in Midnight Blue for my picnic, a William Sonoma exclusive! For this picnic, we started with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with our vegetables but moved to a Pinot Noir to pair with our nutty cheese. With the Coravin, we could try multiple wines to complement the different foods we had in our picnic and still throw the bottles back in our picnic basket without the mess.
Cheese and Veggie Tray
Cheese and charcuterie boards are always a crowd pleaser. The key to a good cheese and meat tray is going for variety. We included cheddar, brie, gruyere, and manchego for cheese and prosciutto, salami, and soppressata for cured meats. For the perfect contrast, bring fresh fruit, jam or preserves, and nuts. And lastly, don’t forget to pack crackers or a loaf of bread for mixing and matching all the cheese and meat goodness on your tray.
Don’t forget a picnic basket that packs all the essentials in tight to make it easy to pack up and go. Look for a basket that includes small plates, napkins, silverware, and a blanket so all of your necessities are in one place (and just a few less things to worry about!)
