Hamel Family Winery Review: Wine Lovers Paradise

Overview:

Hamel is a young, modern, and limited production winery that is the “creme de la creme” of wineries. They have a state of the art tasting room/wine cave that is a slice of heaven for wine lovers.

Atmosphere:

With their floor to ceiling windows, infinity outdoor fountain, and custom colored wine barrels, Hamel pulls out all the stops. Their appointment-only wine tasting experience will leave you feeling like a king or queen. They will even provide you with a custom Hamel bottle of water on your way out. Warning: You may not want to leave.

Location:

15401 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma, CA 95476

What you should know:

If you’re looking for first-class service, this is a must visit. Hamel also has their own private chef and the ricotta cheese and crackers are absolutely to die for. The family comes from a history full of Wisconsin Madison alumns, which is why the Badger is their main logo.

Reservations and Tastings/Tours:

Reservation is required. We did the Estate Experience, which included some house made ricotta cheese made by their private chef and a full tour of their tasting room/wine cave.

Standout Wine(s):

2016 Rosé: Salmon colored and simply amazing. Tastes light, refreshing, and fruity!

2015 Zinfandel: Definitely couldn’t go home without a bottle. Smells like berries and is packed full of juicy flavor.
