Build A Loyal & Engaged Community On Instagram With These 5 Simple Tips

5 Simple Steps For Growing A Loyal and Engaged Community on Instagram

If you’re looking to become profitable on Instagram with your blog or brand, you may be obsessing over the number of followers you have. And while this number is important to think about, its more important to focus your efforts on building your community. Your community is a group of like-minded people who actively follow you, admire you, and interact with you on a regular basis. I like to call these types of followers your “Tribe”. So how do you build an engaged and loyal community? Check out these 5 simple tips that I like to use regularly for growing my tribe on Instagram:

1. Actively Participate In Your Niche

Take 10-20 minutes a day to look at other people’s posts and comment with your genuine thoughts and remarks without being fake and artificial. Don’t mass produce a comment like “Cool pic!” and copy and paste. People see straight through it and Instagram could mark you as spam since that mimics the behavior of a bot.

2. Find Your “Bridge Club”

And no I don’t mean a group of old ladies who meet every month to play cards. A “bridge club” is a group of like-minded individuals who will lift you up and share advice. For me, its the women in wine and international groups that give me an honest and interesting perspective in the wine and food industry. If you don’t know of any groups, start one! Choose a small group of people who appear to be on a similar journey as you! I advise using Telegram so it doesn’t fill up your messages on Instagram.

3. Seek Out New Accounts

Search locations and hashtags to find accounts that are similar to yours. Try to find at least 3 new ones a day that you really like and leave a comment!

4. Endorse Others!

Don’t underestimate the power of shout-outs on your stories. Whether you have 10 or 10,000 followers, it means A LOT to other brands and influencers when you endorse them on your stories. Try to participate in a #followfriday or share someone else’s story on your own stories with a nice note. And don’t expect anything in return. If you’re genuinely endorsing others, they will notice you.

5. Don’t Be Afraid To “Slide Into” DMs

Other influencers and people are more likely to respond to direct engagement so don’t be afraid to reach out to them through DMs every once in a while. Just keep in mind that you do NOT want to spam them with a sales pitch or a million questions (it all links back to being genuine and not artificial). If you have a good question or simply just want to compliment someone, don’t be afraid to reach out to them directly and start a conversation. If you’re running a blog or business, having a direct line of communication and dialogue with your followers is extremely valuable.
